You Won’t Believe That These Things Can Cause You To Snore!

Snoring seems to be a pretty common ailment. According to the Wikipedia article on the subject, as many as 50% of people in ‘some demographics’ suffer effects from the condition – and while sometimes it may be little more than an embarrassing nuisance, there is a chance that it could eventually cause something much worse.

A deviated septum is basically a condition in which the septum is off center or crooked. This is the part of the nose that separates the nasal passages. It’s made up of bone and cartilage, and is supposed to be relatively ‘centered’ to allow enough room to breathe in and out of both nostrils.

But when it’s crooked or off-center, one nostril will probably be larger than the other – meaning that one will be much smaller than it’s supposed to be. This can definitely cause or contribute to snoring problems that may not otherwise manifest themselves.

Believe it or not, having your nose damaged or broken in some way (in an accident or during a physical altercation, for example) could be a huge contributor to snoring problems.

Having the sensitive tissue within the nose broken or damaged can cause it to heal back differently – which may end up causing one or both nostrils to be ‘less open’ than they would have been otherwise.

Believe it or not, having large tonsils can contribute to obstructive sleep apnea and/or a worse snoring problem.

Large tonsils leave less room for airflow in the back of the throat, which can cause vibration issues as the air moves through.

The smaller the airway, the more likely you’ll be to suffer from snoring or OSA.

Are you allergic to cats, pollen, or dust? If so, then you might be surprised to learn that this may actually be a big contributor to your snoring problems!

Allergies cause sinus drainage and congestion – both of which can lead to snoring problems during the night. Taking some simple allergy medication may help to remedy the situation – or you could try a stop snoring mouthpiece (or preferably, both).

In any case, taking action is necessary. A lot of things can cause snoring – but that doesn’t mean that everyone should have to live with it.
