SleepPhones are basically comfortable headphones that were designed to be worn while sleeping. That’s the short of it – but really, they’re a lot more than just comfortable headphones. They can also be worn over the eyes to double as a sleeping mask, and can be adjusted to fit you perfectly – regardless of what position you sleep in.

While this isn’t necessarily a stop-snoring product, it is certainly a sleep aid. In fact, these headphones can even be used to block out the sound of someone snoring right next to you. You can listen to music, books, white noise, relaxation sounds, or anything else with them, and they can even be connected to your phone or mp3 player remotely via Bluetooth.

But do they work? Here’s what we found out when writing SleepPhones review.

Product Details

First of all, we noticed that there were several different types of SleepPhones to choose from on the official product website. The Classic version comes with a cord, though there’s also a wireless version, and a version that they label as SleepPhones Simple. They also offer a few other types of products – though these are the main offerings.

Our favorite was the wireless model, as this version allows you to connect the speakers to your phone via Bluetooth. They’re designed to be ultra-slim, soft, comfortable, and make listening to any type of audio a breeze. They’re basically a headband that allows you to slide the special headphone speakers inside. You can adjust them to sit right over your ears, so you won’t need to worry about whether they’re going to fit or not.

Information! The charging time on this device is about 3 hours – but they’ll work for about 13 hours on a single charge, which is more than long enough to get you through the night.

This product would technically be classified as ‘sleeping headphones’.

Clinical Studies

As far as we can tell, this product has not gone through any clinical trials. But with that being said, this isn’t really the type of product that would undergo such trials. It’s not really a medical device. In fact, it’s more of a media/entertainment device that just so happens to help people sleep at the same time.

So even though there are no tests or studies done to back up the SleepPhones, we really don’t see this as a negative at all.

Is This Product FDA Cleared?
No… but then again, this isn’t really the type of product that would need or require FDA clearance.

The SleepPhones Classic (which is the corded version) sells for $39.95. The SleepPhones Wireless sells for $99.95. This may seem a bit high at first – but when you consider everything you’re getting for your money, it’s actually not too bad. This is a product that will last a long time if you take care not to damage it.

Plus, they also offer a full money back guarantee that includes shipping costs to any customers who are not completely satisfied with their product. Even better, their money back guarantee doesn’t seem to have a deadline on it (that we could tell, anyway). This company has also won a ton of awards – so they’re obviously accustomed to providing on-point customer service.

As far as we’re concerned, money spent on these headphones is going to be money well-spent, no matter how you look at it – as long as you like to listen to music or some other audio while you’re sleeping.

The company that makes this product is called AcousticSheep LLC. It was founded back in 2007 by Dr. Wei-Shin Lai, and her husband Jason Wolfe. The story is that Dr. Lai designed the headphones to help her get back to sleep at night after receiving patient calls in the late hours of the evening. Eventually, she put them on the market and named them SleepPhones, and they’ve been selling ever since.
The business address for this company, as listed on the official product website, is AcousticSheep LLC, 2001 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16506, USA. You can also reach them by phone at 877-838-4790.
We’ve done quite a bit of research about this company (and their products) online, and didn’t find anything that could be described as scam-worthy. Actually, they seem to be well-loved by the vast majority of their customers, and the SleepPhones themselves seem to be a huge hit.

How Does The Product Work?

Essentially, SleepPhones consists of two headphone speakers and a headband. The speakers slide into the headband, allowing you to place them wherever you want for maximum comfort and to get the best audio quality possible. But the head band is super-soft, so it pads the speakers and makes them super-comfortable, even while sleeping.

You can turn or place the headband any way, and it will still work – as long as the speakers are over your ears.

What are actual customers saying?

Actual customers seem to love this product. In fact, on the official company Amazon page, 45% of the reviews given by customers were 5-star reviews, and 78% were 3 stars or more. Here are some quotes that we found on about the SleepPhones.

“NOT WORTH THE MONEY! ESPECIALLY the wireless. Every 6 months or so, I have to replace the SleepPhones because either they stop charging or one of the speakers goes out.”

“I adore my Audible (audio books) account and often fall asleep while listening. These headphones are perfect for side sleepers or anyone that simply hates the discomfort of ear buds and headsets. They are amazingly soft and warm. The only downfall could come in summer when they may be a little too warm, so I will make a plea to the manufacturer to make some with a still-soft-but-cooler material so I can have an excuse to buy a second set.”

What you can expect

This is a pretty straightforward product to use. But still – they might require a bit of effort and experimentation to figure out. Since everyone sleeps a bit differently, you might need to adjust them/move them around a bit to find out how they’ll work for you… but once you get them comfortable and figure out how to make them work the best for your specific sleeping position, you should be good to go.

Sleeping with SleepPhones

Does this brand stack up against the competition?

Yes, this brand definitely stands up against the competition. They’ve won numerous awards, have been featured on many mainstream news and media outlets, and have an A+ rating with the BBB.

Their products follow suit by showing an incredible display of creativity and workmanship. You really can’t go wrong with this company or their products. If you’re looking for quality headphones to use while you’re sleeping, we would absolutely recommend this brand.

Key differences between this product and ‘typical’ solutions

The main difference between this product and typical headphones is that these headphones are literally designed to be comfortably worn while sleeping. Most headphones are designed to be comfortable in most situations, but sleeping with headphones on is particularly challenging – which is why this company gets major kudos for their inventive design.

Is a prescription or doctor involvement needed?

No, you won’t need a prescription or a doctor’s involvement to buy and/or use this product.
