This was a very unique product that was sent through to us by the manufacturer, RespiraCorp Pty Ltd. We were pretty excited to give it a try, as it was a bit different from anything that we had ever reviewed before.

SleepQ+ is basically a sleep-aid gel, but instead of being based on essential oils or aromas (as we first thought when we received the package), it turned out that its purpose is a bit more mechanical. It’s really not so unlike a ‘glue’ that you place on your lips to keep your mouth closed while you sleep – thereby preventing mouth breathing.

It was very different!

Here’s what we found out when doing SleepQ + review.

Product Details

SleepQ+ is a very interesting product. It was designed to help prevent a number of different sleeping problems… including sleep apnea, snoring, sleep disturbance, dry mouth, bad breath, sinus pressure, dehydration, and nasal congestion caused by mouth-breathing during sleep.

The product comes in a tube, and isn’t really so different from what craft glue might look like. It’s soft and sticky, and you apply it to your lips to help prevent mouth breathing. The tube contains 25g of the product – enough to deliver up to 70 applications. The packaging says that it would work great with CPAP, and that it is ‘gentle, safe, and easy to use’.

Type

The best way to categorize this product is as a ‘sleep-aid gel’.

Clinical Studies

The packaging that the product came in said this on the bottom-right corner of the back of the box…

“Clinically tested and approved.”

Upon looking at the official product website, we further verified that that was true.

First of all, the product underwent what was called a ‘Skin patch sensitivity study’. This study included 54 different human subjects, and took place at Cantor Research Laboratories, Inc. in Blauvelt, NY, USA.

Another study, called the ‘Cytotoxicity study’, was performed by AMS Laboratories Pty Ltd in Silverwater, NSW, Australia.

Both tests found favorable results.

You can learn more about both of these tests here.

Is This Product FDA Cleared?

SleepQ Plus is registered with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and MedSafe NZ as what is called ‘An effective method for controlling unwanted mouth breathing during sleep.’  We didn’t, however, see any indication that the product has been FDA approved.

You can buy 1 tube of SleepQ+ for $38.80, or you can buy a wholesale 12-pack (if you wish to become a dealer) for $345.60.
The company that produces SleepQ+ is called RespiraCorp Pty Ltd.
The official business office for RespiraCorp is…

Level 10, 168 Walker Street

North Sydney NSW Australia

Scam Complaints

We haven’t heard any scam complaints about SleepQ+… and honestly, having tried the product ourselves, we can certainly say, that this is not a scam or a gimmick. It is a legitimate product offered by a legitimate company.

How Does The Product Work?

This product basically works by ‘gluing’ your lips together (at least the center part of them, anyway). The idea behind this is that if you put a bit of the gel in the center of your bottom lip, it will gently hold your mouth closed once the gel ‘dries’. This will keep your mouth closed without forcing it to seal shut – which will be both comfortable and effective at promoting nasal breathing, which can help your quality of sleep in a lot of different ways.

How to use SleepQ +

What are actual customers saying?

We haven’t seen a ton of reviews online for this product yet – but reviews so far seem to be quite positive. The official company Facebook page doesn’t even have many likes yet though – so it’s not surprising that there aren’t more online reviews for it as of right now.

What you can expect

If you buy this product and attempt to use it, you can expect to have to get used to it a bit before getting super-comfortable with it.

But we could also see this product working really well right out of the gate. We actually really liked it. It might tend to come loose if you are an aggressive mouth snorer, and we could certainly see how some people just might not be able to use it (because it’s not incredibly strong, it is bound to come loose if you don’t sleep ‘gently’ enough in terms of keeping your lips together).

Does this brand stack up against the competition?

Yes, we feel that this brand stacks up against the competition. It’s certainly more discrete than a stop snoring chin-strap, though it essentially does almost the same thing (though a chinstrap might also help to hold the jaw forward a little bit).

We have seen some products that stick over the mouth to help keep it closed with adhesive strips, but honestly, we liked this product a bit better. It just seemed more discrete and easier to handle.

Key differences between this product and ‘typical’ solutions

The main different between this product and other similar products like it is that people aren’t going to notice that you are even using it. It is pretty much invisible once you put it on, and it really won’t hinder your mouth movement at all if you really want to separate your lips.

Is a prescription or doctor involvement needed?

No, you don’t need a prescription or a doctor’s involvement to buy and/or use this product.

Pros and cons

Here are the basic pros and cons that we discovered over the course of our research…

Pros

  • The product actually worked quite well – better than we expected
  • The company offers a 30 day money back guarantee to anyone who buys it, which is awesome
  • It has gone through several safety tests, which is good
  • It actually helps to address a wide range of problems – including snoring and sleep apnea
  • It’s relatively inexpensive
  • It’s very non-invasive and discrete

Cons

  • You would need to continue buying it to continue using it, which means that it would cost more in the long-term than a stop snoring device
  • It might not work for people who are ‘aggressive’ mouth breathers

Conclusion

If you’re interested in a product that’s going to help you to stop breathing through your mouth when you sleep, that’s minimally invasive, and that is basically invisible while in use, then there is a good chance that you’re going to like SleepQ+. It’s not perfect, and it might not work for everyone – but we tested it, and it certainly does what it’s supposed to do… and if you need something that’ll help to keep you from mouth breathing while you’re asleep, we would certainly give this option two thumbs up!
