Introduction – SleepTight Review

The SleepTight Mouthpiece is another mandibular advancement device stop-snoring system, which basically means that it’s like a mouth-guard that helps to pull the lower jaw forward and expand the airway during sleep. This, in theory, is supposed to expand the airway and prevent snoring—but is it worth the money, or is it just another generic option with nothing special to offer?

In this SleepTight review, we’re going to take an in-depth look at it and attempt to make an accurate determination.

Product Details

The SleepTight Mouthpiece is easy to fit and simple to use. It helps to both treat snoring and to prevent sleep apnea. According to the SleepTight official website, it’s FDA approved for safety and effectiveness.

It was designed by a dentist/professional researcher, and was designed to help expand the airway during sleep—thus allowing more room for breathing and lowering the risk for tissue vibration, which is a common cause of snoring.

Type

The SleepTight mouthpiece would technically fall within the mandibular advancement device category, since it uses the teeth to help keep the lower jaw pulled forward during sleep.

Clinical Studies

According to the official website, the Food and Drug Administration has fully evaluated the SleepTight device and has cleared it for sleep apnea and snoring treatment.

In addition to this, the website says that ‘medical studies confirm the effectiveness of the SleepTight Mouthpiece’, though the studies themselves do not seem to be listed or linked-to on the official company site.

Is this product FDA cleared?

Yes, the SleepTight Mouthpiece has been cleared by the FDA for snoring and sleep apnea treatment.

Price

This device costs $52.96 to order from the company, though they also offer a ‘try it today for $9.95’ option as well. With this option, customers can order the product and try it for 30 days for just $9.95. Then, if they decide that they like it and would like to keep it, they can just pay the remaining balance. If they decide to send it back, they can do so without being required to pay anything else.

According to the website, the SleepTight Mouthpiece was actually developed by a US dentist named Dr. Mike Williams. Dr. Williams is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and is also a predominant mouth-guard researcher in the UK.

As far as I can tell, this product doesn’t seem to be a scam. I did quite a bit of research, and all that I could come up with were reports of legitimacy. I would say that you really don’t have anything to worry about in a ‘scamming’ context with this product. Their ‘try it today for $9.95’ offer could draw some complaints if customers aren’t sure what it means, as you don’t get your $9.95 back should you choose to order and then return the product—though a simple read-through of the terms makes this pretty clear.

How does the product work?

This product basically works by holding the lower jaw forward during sleep. This expands the airway and opens up more room in the back of the throat.

Snoring usually happens when air, moving through the airway, causes the tissue of the throat, tongue, or palette to vibrate. This device, however, helps to provide plenty of room for airflow – thereby preventing vibration and, in turn, snoring.

What are actual customers saying?

Customers are saying basically good things about this device. In fact, I didn’t find much in the way of negative complaints to report. It seems that Dr. Williams knew what he was doing when he designed the SleepTight Mouthpiece.

What you can expect

Once you get the device, you’ll need to size it by boiling it and then biting down on it (it isn’t quite this simple—so make sure to read and understand the instructions first). Once this is done, you’re ready to get started.

After the first night, you might notice a bit of soreness. At first, it might also feel strange to wear a mouthpiece while you sleep. Some people report that it takes them a few days to get used to it—though I haven’t really heard any reports of people giving up on it because of this.

After a good week of use, you should start to really feel comfortable with it in. In fact, you may find that your quality of sleep will improve to the point where you hate the idea of sleeping without it.

Does this brand stack up against the competition?

This brand does stacks up against the competition—for several different reasons. For one, it provides snorers with an inexpensive remedy that actually works.

Secondly, it comes with everything requires to custom-fit it—which is a fantastic feature that will help to ensure that it works as designed. Some of these products don’t come with a custom-fitting plan, making them hit-or-miss at best—but the SleepTight gets around this by being designed for customization.

Even with this feature, however, there are still some brands out there that offer a bit more in terms of a perfect fit.  This product, for example, isn’t really ‘adjustable’ after the initial sizing as some other brands are. It also holds the entire lower jaw forward instead of just the tongue (the Good Morning Snore Solution is an example of a product that holds only the tongue forward), which is something that some people aren’t comfortable with.

But these are understandable differences, and I wouldn’t say that they add up to any real negatives for the SleepTight Mouthpiece.

Key differences between this product and ‘typical’ solutions

The biggest difference between this product and many other ‘typical’ stop snoring mouthpieces is the fact that it utilizes boil-and-bite technology to ensure a perfect fit. Not all products make use of this technology—which definitely puts SleepTight into a better category than the majority of its competitors.

Is a prescription or doctor involvement needed?

You do not need a prescription or a doctor to buy or use the SleepTight Mouthpiece. You can order it directly from the company and start using it as soon as it arrives.

Pros and Cons

Here are some of the basic pros and cons that I discovered in regard to the SleepTight Mouthpiece

Pros

  • It’s priced affordably
  • It uses boil-and-bite technology to ensure a perfect fit
  • It’s FDA approved and proven to work
  • It can provide snoring and sleep-apnea relief for the vast majority of sufferers

Cons

  • It can take a little while to get used to it if you’ve never worn a device like this before
  • Some people might have a difficult time understanding the ‘try it now for $9.95’ deal, though it is, admittedly, explained very well in the terms section
  • Item #3

Conclusion

In the end, I definitely give this product two thumbs up. It’s affordable, can be fitted perfectly and individually to your mouth, and can even be tried for as little as $9.95 without the risk to spend any more if you end up not being a fan.

Add to this the fact that mandibular advancement devices in general have been proven to work in clinical settings, and you end up with a product that boasts an impressive chance for success.

If you’re in the market for a new stop snoring mouthpiece, then SleepTight is definitely a product to take a look at.

Costs and shipping

You can buy the SleepTight for $52.96 from the company website. With shipping, you can expect to pay about $62.91 to get this product shipped to Australia.

For best results, you should order this product directly from the SleepTight Mouthpiece website.
