I do have some reservations about this device. Device could have had a custom-fit mechanism of some kind, and some of the negative reviews do make me a bit leery but all in all it seems to be doing the job!

Introduction – SnoreMender Stop Snoring Device Review

The SnoreMender is a stop-snoring mouthpiece that’s said to utilize ‘clinically proven technology’ to help people stop snoring.

Actually, it’s not all that different from many other mouthpiece-like devices on the market—though it does have a few unique traits that you may find interesting.

But is it the right device for you? Here’s what I found out about it over the course of my research when writing SnoreMeds review.

Product Details

Here’s a list of features that, according to the company, makes the SnoreMender an effective device.

  • It uses what the company calls ‘Pressure Shift Technology’. This basically means that pressure is moved away from the weaker parts of the teeth toward the parts that are stronger. This is said to prevent aching teeth with long-term use.
  • The device is made from soft medical-grade plastic for comfort.
  • It’s said to be flexible and capable of opening and closing with the mouth—which is supposed to make sleeping more natural and comfortable.
  • The SnoreMender is small and elegantly designed so as not to feel ‘bulky’ when in use.
  • Because you can open and move your mouth while wearing the SnoreMender, normal breathing isn’t impaired by the device.

Type

This product is technically an MAD, or Mandibular Advancement Device—though some people also call it a jaw splint.

Clinical Studies

There has actually been at least one clinical study done where SnoreMender was utilized as a test product—and the results were very positive. The SnoreMender website actually links to the study, which can be found here http://www.snoremenders.com/Articles.html.

Here was a closing remark made by one of the researchers that seems to demonstrate the usefulness of the SnoreMender device in the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea.

“The SnoreMender is therefore recommended as a “drug of first choice”, which might later be supplemented with more extensive treatments, if necessary. Its use might be able to save considerable time and resources for those in the medical profession that deal with snoring problems.”

Is this product FDA cleared?

As far as I can tell, there isn’t any reference to FDA clearance for this device—though the product is made from ‘medical grade dental thermoplastic’, and is said to contain no silicone, latex, BPA, or phthalates.

Price

According to the official company website, this product costs $69 per unit.

SnoreMender is technically a product of a company called ‘Sleep Well Enjoy Life Ltd.’ Beyond the name, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of information about the company on the official website.
The business address for Sleep Well Enjoy Life Ltd is as follows…

Sleep Well Enjoy Life Ltd

12 Station Road

Eckington

Sheffield

S21 4FX

United Kingdom

As usual, I scoured the internet looking for ‘scam reports’ regarding this particular device—and am pleased to announce that I didn’t really find any. Though there are some people who may not be altogether pleased with the device (you can’t please everyone, right?), it definitely doesn’t seem like anyone is accusing the business of scamming its customers.

Scam Complaints?

How does the product work?

The SnoreMender works in much the same fashion as other mandibular stop-snoring devices. When worn, it helps to pull the lower part of the jaw forward slightly. This creates more room in the back of the throat and allows the air to pass through more easily—which in turn lowers the chances of snoring by reducing the vibration of soft tissue.

Since most cases of snoring are caused by the ‘airway restriction’ that takes place when the lower jaw relaxes and pushes back to reduce the amount of space in the back of the throat, devices like this definitely do seem to help—though results may vary by  person and case.

What are actual customers saying?

Most customers seem to be pretty happy with the SnoreMender—especially considering the fact that the newest version of their product (the PS model) has seen a lot of improvement over the previous one.

Here’s one example of a positive review that I found.

“We’ve been married several years now and he wears his SnoreMender every night and while it didn’t make or break our marriage, it has certainly made it a whole lot more peaceful and enjoyable.”

Now, having said that, I believe it’s also important to mention that I did find a few negative reviews. One of the most common complaints that I found was that the SnoreMender can have a tendency to be uncomfortable in the absence of any kind of a ‘fitting’ process. Since it doesn’t utilize boil and bite technology, there really isn’t any way to get a custom-fit from it, short of filing down some of the ‘rougher’ edges if they rub against your gums.

Of course, the device was designed not to rub against the gums, but since everyone is different, not everyone will have the same experience.

In the end, I found far more positive reviews than negative ones—but there were also more complaints about this device than there were for some of the other stop-snoring devices that I’ve reviewed in the past.

What you can expect

It’s pretty normal with any mouthpiece stop-snoring product to experience some discomfort after the first few nights of use—though the SnoreMender may actually be more difficult to get used to than some other brands, simply because it doesn’t have any custom-fit mechanisms that I’m aware of.

If this product is going to work for you, you should probably start seeing improvements after at least a week of use. If after seven days you still feel sore after waking up, you might want to consider contacting the company and making use of their 90 day money back guarantee

Does this brand stack up against the competition?

Honestly, the SnoreMender is a pretty cool device—but it does lack some features that cause it to lose some luster when compared with other models and brands. In my opinion, the absence of any kind of custom-fitting mechanism really causes it to lose some ground. It is pretty affordable, which is a good thing—though it also seems like you may be able to get more for your money in other places.

Key differences between this product and ‘typical’ solutions

The main difference between this product and a lot of other stop-snoring mouthpieces is the fact that it allows a pretty full range of mouth movement while in use.

Many stop snoring devices require you to keep your mouth closed while sleeping—but the SnoreMender allows you to open your mouth and move it basically like normal, even while it’s in your mouth.

Is a prescription or doctor involvement needed?

You won’t need a doctor or a prescription to utilize this product.

Pros and Cons

Here are the basic pros and cons that I discovered over the course of my research.

Pros

  • The company offers free shipping
  • The SnoreMender offers a full range of mouth movement
  • They offer a 90 day money back guarantee
  • This mouthpiece is made from medical-grade thermoplastic

Cons

  • There’s no custom fitting mechanism
  • Some customers complain that it’s not comfortable
  • The only way to improve comfort is to file down some of the edges—which seems sort of labor-intensive when compared to the features offered by other brands in this price range

Conclusion

My official opinion of this product is that it’ll probably work for the majority of people who need a stop-snoring device—though I do have some reservations about it. I find myself wishing that it had a custom-fit mechanism of some kind, and some of the negative reviews do make me a bit leery.

On the other hand, however, it comes with a very generous 90 day money back guarantee. It’s also been shown to be effective in documented clinical trials—both of which are details that impress me.

If you’re in the market for a new stop-snoring device and want to review all of your options, then this product definitely deserves your attention—though you may come to find that, in some cases, you might be able to get more for your money with other devices.

Costs and shipping

These products cost $69 per unit to order, though they come with free shipping—which is definitely cool!

The best place to buy the SnoreMender is from the official company website.
